How to catalog a sneaker collection

samla.ai ·

A row of boxes looks wonderfully organised until you need the pair near the bottom. Photograph the shoes, save the style code and size, and give each pair a location. Finding the right box can become the easy part.

Photograph the details you will want later

  • Both shoes, size tags, soles and box label
  • Brand, model, colourway, style code and size system
  • Wear, repairs, cleaning and any fit notes
  • Original box, spare laces, accessories and storage location

Review, then save

Five dark-wood floating shelves packed with sneakers on a white wall, lit from a window.

Add clear photos in samla.ai and review the suggested identification. Correct anything uncertain and add the details you know. Some information comes from labels or close-ups; some comes from living with the item. Save the room, shelf or box where you keep it.

Work through a manageable group, then stop when you feel done. You can return to research an uncertain detail later. A useful first pass gives you photos, a name and a place; it need not answer every question.

Keep it useful as the collection changes

Keep the shoes and their box details together, even when you store them separately. Update wear notes as you use a pair. A photo from the day they arrived is a nice memory, but it may not describe them a year later.

Do I need to finish the whole collection at once?

No. Start with one shelf or box, save useful details and continue when you have time.
