Take an overview, then photograph individual items and useful details such as model names or serial numbers. Record where each item is stored.
Keep supporting information together
- Add purchase dates and receipts when available.
- Record identifying details without guessing missing facts.
- Keep your own notes about condition, repairs and included parts.
Check what your insurer needs
Ask your insurer which documents and values they require. An app record or estimate does not by itself establish cover or a claim amount. Export the relevant information and keep a copy somewhere you can access if your usual device is unavailable.
Keep the inventory current
Update records when items move, are sold or are replaced. Review public sharing settings before sending a link containing details of your home.
