Keep the issue with that great article

You remember the cover and half a headline. Give the issue a photo, a date and a note about why you kept it, then record which stack or box it joined. “I know it’s here somewhere” can have a more useful ending.

Study, magazine file 2. The article I wanted is on page 34.

The details you will be glad you kept

Make each issue easy to tell apart

Check issue number, publication date and publisher. Photograph the cover and any identifying details when a special edition is easy to confuse with the regular one.

Add the reason you kept it

Note an article title or page number, and whether posters, patterns or other inserts are still there. These are your own useful breadcrumbs back to the paper copy.
