Keep a record of both sides

You may know every mark on your favourite coin. A few photos and notes make those details just as easy to find for the rest of the tray. Record both sides, check the identifying details and save where each coin belongs.

Your notes

Coin tray B, slot 4. Ask Dad which trip this was from.

The details you will be glad you kept

Let both sides tell the story

Photograph the date, lettering, mint mark and visible wear. Check suggested details against the coin, and note anything the photographs do not capture well.

Keep the find with its history

Add where the coin came from, any supporting documents and its tray or album position. That family holiday is part of the record too.
